What we are currently loving

Denim Embellishments

From fabrics, to styles, colors and so forth, it’s no secret that jeans have evolved into being more than just denim.  We at Denim Diary are especially loving the various kinds of embellishments designers are using to take their denims to the next level.  Especially with the party season coming up, we can’t help it if our eyes are automatically attracted to those jeans which carry a “va va voom” factor ;) !  For example:

  • Studs

True Religion "Johnny in Midnight Rage"

Siwy Hannah Shadowplay with Studs

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Denim Diary’s Gratitude: Day 9

Happy Monday, All!  Just because November is soon coming to an end, it doesn’t mean we have to stop saying thanks!

Rishika from London is grateful “for breath, for petals, for art, for friends, for work, and love, and those times I have fun, for parents that nurture, and skies that are dark blue, for children discovering glitter, and every learning that’s new, for the instinct of leaves that each finds the sun, for trees that shelter with branches that offer hugs to everyone, for seasons that change reinforcing that time waits for no-one, for my dog that when happy can’t resist from shaking her bum, for my perfect coffee that greets me with consistency, for the arms that I sleep in that love me unquestioningly, for the laughs I can call upon of those I know well, like my father the giggling buddha who finds funny the jokes he tells, for the eureka moments when life simply couldn’t be more swell, like when the sun warms your bones relaxing with old friends, for the ability for us to give when we feel shunned, and the trying to ourselves forgive – we have all been young.”

Thank you, Rishika, for reminding us to take joy in the little things in life!

The happiness of life is made up of minute fractions — the little soon forgotten charities of a kiss or smile, a kind look, a heartfelt compliment, and the countless infinitesimal of pleasurable and genial feeling.” – Samuel Taylor Coleridge

What’s on your Christmas list?

Yes, we know that there are still more than 30 days until Christmas.  Yep, we are aware that Thanksgiving has not even been celebrated yet.  Although it might be too early to start playing Christmas carols, it’s never too late to start writing that Christmas list- remember you’ll need the extra time to check it twice ;) !

In case any of my friends or family are reading this, here is a “subtle” hint :D :

I am loving one of J Brand’s latest styles: 811 in Terra Cotta.  With lovely hues of orange and cinnamon, I have no doubt that these seasonal twill jeans (cough *in a size 26* cough) will be a fun way to add some depth to my wardrobe while still maintaining a neutral look.  As I tend to shy away from low rise jeans, the higher rise of these skinny jeans especially appeal to me.   My social calendar is already busying up this and I have no dobut that this style will be the ideal jean to carry me from daytime into the night…i.e. party time! :)

What gift are you dropping hints about to your friends & family this year?

Denim Diary’s Gratitude: Day 8

Whether it’s an afternoon nap, a great cup of coffee, hearing our favorite song on the radio, or a particular hobby , Mala from Mumbai reminds us to express gratitude for the little things in life which bring us joy:

“I am grateful for my book group! It has taken me back to some good serious reading…something I just could not find the time for anymore.”

“I am grateful for my friends – friends who do not judge even though they differ, because they understand that everyone has their own story.”

Denim Diary’s Gratitude: Day 7

Be it a friend, family member, colleague or acquaintance every single person we come across hones, improves, challenges, and enlightens us.  In other words, whether we realize it or not every person in our lives, every relationship we maintain, plays a role in shaping the person we each are today.  This November, acknowledge these such people and thank them for their presence in your life:

Reshma is “thankful to all my family and friends.  Without their love and support I wouldn’t be here…”

Suchita is “thankful to have Khushboo, Shaara , and Munisha on the Sai Jeans team.”

Antra is grateful for “MAD About Denim’s Personal Shopping experience.”

Denim Diary’s Gratitude: Day 6

As someone who lived in London, I know how easy it is to constantly complain about the dreary weather.  One minute the temperatures are too hot to bear and the next minute it’s wet, grey and gloomy.  Other than to always carry an umbrella, I would advise all those in London to make the most of those few days where the weather is on your side!

Monika Israni from London is grateful “to enjoy the crisp, cold, fresh November air with the magic of Christmas to come! A brisk walk through the golden leaves of autumn fallen from the trees above and I’m content to the core! It’s simple, but it’s powerful and I’m grateful!”
It really is the little things that matter in life!  And if BBC Online is anything to go by, it looks like the Londoners have a weekend of sunshine to enjoy.  Have a great day, all!

Denim Diary’s Gratitude: Day 5

As much as we live in our jeans and rely on them for most occasions, it’s so easy to take the clothes which we wear and the shops where we buy them from for granted.  It’s refreshing to see that this is not the case with Geeta Khanna.

Geeta in Mumbai is “grateful to Denim Story for introducing perhaps the best selection of denims in the country.  Kudos for sharp eye and good selection to delight the Indian consumer!  Love the brands that Denim Story picks and gets for us!”

Thank you for such a wonderful comment, Geeta! We try to update our styles so that we’re in line with the US & UK, and always keep our clients in mind!  We are glad you think we are doing a good job :) !

Denim Diary’s Gratitude: Day 4

Did you realize that this year has only:

  • 10 weeks remaining
  • 9 more working Mondays
  • 2 more months to fulfill the resolutions you set at the start of the year

…and 46 sleeps until Christmas…not that we’re counting or anything ;) !

Henna from London is “thankful that Starbucks has brought out three new Christmas drinks and their red Christmas cups! It got me in the Christmas spirit and makes the winter so much more bearable!”

If we had a Starbucks in Mumbai, we too would feel the same way Henna!  Have one for us!

Denim Diary’s Gratitude: Day 3

Happy Monday All! For those who aren’t aware, Denim Diary is using November as the month to recognize all that we are grateful for. For more information, you can check out this post.

Loyal reader Davina from Lagos is “thankful for the love my husband and 2-year-old shower upon me everyday.”

Thank you, Davina!  I’m sure your husband and child feel the same way!

Denim Diary’s Gratitude: Day 2

For those of you missed our announcement yesterday, Denim Diary will be regularly posting what we are grateful for during the month of November.  There is no reason why we should only give Thanks on one day of the year: Thanksgiving!  We would love to hear from YOU so do share what you are grateful today, no matter how big or small it may be!

Munisha: “I am thankful for long weekends. With Eid this weekend I have nothing more to be thankful for than an extra night of extended sleep and a long morning in bed as well as an extra day to lounge around in my PJs!”

I’m sure I’m not the only one who is jealous of Munisha!  Have a great lie-in! :)

I am thankful…

Pinch punch, 2nd of the month! Just where did October go? Like the rest of 2011, the month flew by and I have no doubt that I will be saying the same about November in 28 days. This month seems to reserve a special spot in the heart of many Americans. More than just the delicious food which Thanksgiving tends to mean, it also brings attention to the all the things we are grateful for.  As a fellow American citizen, I am going to make the most of November and regularly express what the team at Denim Diary are grateful for.

We would love to hear from our readers and if you too would like to participate, leave a comment or send an email to info@thedenimstory.com with what you’re grateful for. It doesn’t have to be life-changing or require much thought!

To get the ball rolling, I am thankful for being served lunch in bed. Unfortunately I woke up feeling a bit under the weather and we all know what the best medication for that is: a major dose of pampering! I am grateful that my mom cooked me some soup for lunch. On that note, I am also grateful for crackers as they make fantastic soup-dippers :) !

What are you grateful for today?
